2013 FCJ Race Weekend 1

Well hello there! Been awhile since I visited the blog but, I promise that it will be back and in full force!

This weekend was Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2013 Formula Challenge Japan season at Fuji Speedway. Thursday and Friday combined had five 55 minute free practice sessions where I was consistently posting lap times in the top 5. Saturday saw two 15 minute qualifying sessions and Round 1. After Uncharacteristic mistakes in both qualifying sessions, I had to make do with a 9th position start in Round 1, and 8th position start in Round 2. Round 1 started off really well, managed to move up to 6th position. Unfortunately though, a car behind lost Control and collected me with him. Despite having a bit of damage and falling back to 13th position, I was able to fight my way back to 9th position and ran the 3rd quickest lap time. Today saw some very tricky driving conditions for Round 2. All drivers advised to be on wet tires despite the track being pretty much dry but harshly cold. An eventful race with many crashes, penalties, and overtakes saw me finishing across the line in 5th position and picking up 2 all important championship points.

Thanks to Toyota, FTRS, TRD, and Go Designs for their assistance this weekend. Special thanks to all the Family, friends, and fans that showed up this weekend to cheer me on.

Next race is in 1 months time at Motegi. Hopefully things go better there. Until next time, Shinya out.
