Saturday- Running in the HPV Junior Lite and Yamaha Junior Supercan Heavy classes HPV was first to qualify. Out of the two groups i saw myself in the first of the two looking at a slower track due to tire compound differences from the class before. After the first group I was at the top of the time charts. Unfortunately after the second my fellow teammate Tommy Anderson edged me out for the Streeter Superstands Pole Award. In Yamaha Junior Super can heavy I went out in the last of the three groups set to qualify. After dropping a wheel in turn 13 my time was ruined and had to settle for 3rd place with my second timed lap. In the prefinal for HPV i got an amazing start and led all 6 laps to the finish. Yamaha saw a more interesting battle for second with Sam Beasley before I cleared him with two laps to go and set my sights for race leader Tommy Anderson. I caught up to Tommy but decided to stay in second the more preferred starting line for the final. The HPV final started with myself in the lead with about a 10 kart gap to second place. Midway through the race Tommy Anderson closed that gap and was pushing me down the straightaway. Fortunately with just 3 laps remaining i was able to pull a 15-kart gap to secure my first national win. Unluckily we were removed from post tech due to problem in the clutch. After the disappointment i knew i had to prove that the win wasn't because of illegal equipment and led every lap to the end of the race to officially pick up the win. |
